The Problem

The Blacklt Cinema in Blackpool faced a significant challenge in attracting a larger audience due to a notable shortage of new film releases between 2023 and 2024. This scarcity of fresh content threatened their ability to engage and entice cinema-goers, necessitating innovative strategies to draw in new patrons.

Developed using Laravel

In Spring 2024, we unveiled a custom-built platform, developed using Laravel, designed to revolutionize the way cinema-goers in Blackpool engage with film selections. Users can now nominate their preferred movies; when a film garners sufficient interest, it earns a screening at a local cinema, fostering a community-driven approach to movie watching.

We enhanced the user experience by employing a Tinder-style interface, ensuring the platform is not only highly engaging but also incredibly intuitive. This approach allows users to seamlessly swipe through film selections, elevating the enjoyment and interaction with our service.

The outcome was transformative for Blacklt Cinema in Blackpool, opening up an entirely new channel of engagement and attracting a broader audience of cinema enthusiasts. Presently, the platform is poised for expansion, ready to revolutionize the movie-going experience in additional cinemas.
